Production

Specialization

Because SOKOŁÓW S.A. has as many as seven production plants, specialization plays a very important role. This applies both to the slaughtering of animals and to processing production. Three plants (at Sokołów Podlaski, Jarosław, and Robakowo near Poznań) have pig slaughtering facilities, two more (at Koło and Tarnów) conduct cattle slaughtering, while the branches in Czyżew and Dębica are engaged solely in processing. Over recent years many investments have been made involving the purchase of machinery and equipment for the processing and packing of pork, beef and poultry meats and for the production of homogenized products and those in alginate casings. At the Tarnów plant a special beef maturing facility has been brought into operation, and a slicing machine has been purchased to enable the cutting of beef slices to constant weight. For pork (Sokołów, Jarosław, Robakowo) production lines have been purchased for the packing of meat on trays, as well as a device for analysing fat content and machines for kebab production and for cutting meat into cubes and strips. At the Czyżew plant additional investment has been made in the production lines for frankfurter production. The plant in Sokołów Podlaski is currently being extended in order to further develop production of sliced cold meats.

Costs down

The management board pays constant attention to reducing and closely controlling costs. This is helped by the specialization introduced in production, which makes it possible to produce larger product batches, and thus reduce production costs. Other important factors are the minimization of logistical and transport costs, the reduction of energy costs, and replacement of heat production technology.

The environment

All of the company’s plants meet the highest environmental requirements:

  • all plants have biological liquid waste treatment facilities,
  • we have devices with closed water circulation (savings on water) – thermal processing,
  • we have integrated permits covering the whole of plants’ impact on the environment,
  • we have a contract for the collection of our packaging – organization of recovery,
  • we have heat recovery systems installed,
  • we are completing a move to gas boilers (reduced air pollution),
  • we have BRC and IFS certificates.
We care for animals

SOKOŁÓW S.A. adheres to the highest standards in its treatment of animals:

  • animal transportation conditions are checked,
  • checks are also made on the degree of stress imposed on animals,
  • slaughter is carried out using a stunning system, so that the animals do not feel any pain.
